Microstructural Evolution and Mechanical Properties of 7075 Aluminium Alloy during Semi-Solid Compression Deformation

Aluminium alloys are becoming increasingly popular due to the demands for high-performance lightweight components, and semi-solid metal processing (SSM) is a technique forming near-net-shape complex components with far fewer defects associated turbulent filling. The deformation mechanisms of 7075 aluminium alloy were studied through direct partial re-melting method using as-extruded billets. It found that inter-granular intra-granular occur simultaneously during compression under condition; solid primary ?-Al grains can compensate shrinkage liquid increase integrity shaped parts. at final stage SSM change morphology spherical induces sub-grain boundaries.
